Festival Manager, Theater Box Offices

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Festival Manager, Theater Box Offices is charged with driving the pre-Festival planning and implementation to successfully operate theater box offices in Park City or Salt Lake City. The position will oversee a large team to assist in facilitating theater box office operations, in addition to directing volunteers and waitlist ticket sales.

 

Working closely under the direction of the Manager, Ticketing Operations, the Festival Manager, Theater Box Offices supports Sundance Institute’s commitment to providing patrons with the best possible experience of the Festival’s many in-person screenings.

 

This temporary position works full time from Wednesday, October 30, 2024 through Friday, February 14, 2025 and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs. This position is based out of our Park City, UT office location in order to work onsite in a hybrid capacity throughout its employment.

 

Top priorities include but are not limited to…

  • Updating and developing theater box office and main box office training and quick reference manuals, including information on ticket distribution, waitlist operations, equipment usage, ticketing procedures, and information booth documents.

  • Managing employees, including selecting and training highly effective employees providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure they understand responsibilities.

  • Scheduling and managing theater box office volunteers, collaborating with the Volunteer Resources Department to ensure volunteer coverage for successful operations.

  • Scheduling and conducting trainings for employees and volunteers to ensure comprehension of duties.

  • Maintaining timelines related to theater box offices and main box offices, including tracking changes to the timeline and communicating updates to stakeholders.

  • Working with the Theater Operations department to determine set up and logistics for theater box offices at each location.

  • Partnering with the Finance Department to develop and implement effective accounting practices and procedures.

  • Managing onsite inventory and distribution of waitlist tickets, volunteer vouchers, and other vouchers, as well as additional box office materials as needed.

  • Ordering and scheduling delivery of equipment and working with Technology Services to schedule installation of internet connections at each venue and that materials and supplies are received, organized, and delivered by deadline.

  • Partnering with Technology Services and Theater Operations to ensure smooth scanning operations and patrons with ticket issues are directed to our support staff.

  • Partnering with the Lost and Found Coordinator and Manager, Ticketing Operations to ensure lost and found procedures are in place at each theater.

  • Providing additional support at specific screenings, as needed.

  • Ensuring timely and continuous onsite and remote support to all theater box offices.

  • Communicating and documenting operational, employee, or other problems as appropriate.

  • Writing a comprehensive written wrap report.

 

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.

  • Valid driver’s license and the successful completion of DMV background check.

  • 3 years operational planning and implementation or related experience.

  • Leadership skills with a background that includes managing people.

  • Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a variety of people.

  • Excellent organizational skills including self-management of work schedule.

  • Ability to maintain confidential information, mitigate conflict, and facilitate positive customer relations.

  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.

  • Working knowledge of databases along with proficiency in Google Products preferred.
