POSITION SUMMARY 
The Grants Manager will report to the VP of Grants and Strategic Partnerships and will be responsible for helping to achieve the revenue goals of Utah’s Promise and UWSL from foundation, corporate, and government sources. This detail-oriented and strategic position will oversee a portfolio of approximately 60+ funders and prospects. They will be responsible for researching, writing, submitting, and managing grants to secure funding from institutional sources, in addition to cultivating new relationships. The Grants Manager will create high-quality proposals and ensure compliance with grant requirements to support UWSL/Utah Promise’s mission and programs while also maintaining accurate and robust tracking of deadlines and related stewardship details in Salesforce. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

  1. Work closely with the VP of Grants and Strategic Partnerships to research, identify, and develop a portfolio of prospective grants, including corporate, foundation, and government funding opportunities. 

  1. Develop compelling, tailored grant proposals, applications, and reports, and serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned portfolio of small to mid-size institutional donors and prospects. 

  1. Lead funder stewardship efforts, including recognition, providing regular updates on project progress, and engagement opportunities. 

  1. Manage communications with partners, program staff, and UWSL staff to collect needed outcome data, content, and performance measures for funding proposals and grant reports in a timely manner. 

  1. Facilitate meetings and lead site visits with current and potential funders to discuss organizational goals, funding needs, and project updates. 

  1. Track grant expenditures and prepare financial reports in collaboration with UWSL staff as required by funders. 

  1. Monitor grant-funded projects to ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions. 

  1. Manage the grant calendar by tracking deadlines, reporting requirements, and communication with funders in Salesforce. 

  1. Perform other duties as assigned.  

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills, with an ability to tailor messaging for different audiences 

  • Knowledge of the grants lifecycle, including application, award, implementation, and closeout processes 

  • Good fiscal management and an understanding of budgets, financial reports, and grant expenditures to ensure compliance with funder requirements 

  • Understanding of, and familiarity, with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing grants 

  • Ability to understand and adapt to different situations and dynamics effectively 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, ensuring timely submission of proposals and reports 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 3+ years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or communications, preferably in a non-profit environment. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - proven skill in Excel 

  • Experience with CRM software systems (preferably Salesforce) 

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in applicable field or relevant experience preferred. 

  • Persuasive writing experience 

  • Prior grant writing experience/certificate preferred 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

The team member is regularly required to communicate clearly, in oral and written formats, with others in person, over the phone and via other devices. The team member must be able to transcribe, take in new information, prepare and analyze data and figures, constantly operate a computer and other standard office machinery. The team member is required to regularly travel to offsite locations to set-up presentations and displays in physical and electronic mediums. The team member must have the ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50lbs. 

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS?? 

The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $50,000-70,000. Salary commensurate with experience. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:?
