Status: Non-exempt, Full-time, with benefits
Salary: $15-15.50/hr DOE

Job Description:
To enable volunteers to have a good experience in their working with the Paramount Homeless Resource Center and to coordinate with Easter Seals, Salt Lake County Aging Employment, the DWS ABAWD Programs, and community service volunteers.
Responsibilities include:
  1. Schedule volunteers and volunteer groups to serve all meals.
  2. Communicate with the relevant staff regarding volunteer schedules and schedule changes.
  3. Greet volunteers upon their arrival, explain rules/procedures, give them appropriate tools, and connect them with proper staff for their assignments.
  4. Be present when volunteers leave to thank them and/or debrief them if needed.
  5. Keep volunteer room neat and orderly and facilitate storage of volunteer’s valuables.
  6. Communicate regularly with administrators of Easter Seals, SLC Aging Employment Program, and the DWS ABAWD Programs.
  7. Oversee the intake and orientation process for all Gail Miller Resource Center volunteers.
  8. Oversee time sheets, records and other documents that track volunteer’s hours.
  9. Capture volunteer data and maintain VolunteerHub database for Homeless Services.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
 
Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
  1. Ability to work inside at a desk and answering phone calls for hours at a time.
  2. Assist in bringing in donated goods from outside to inside sorting room as needed.
 
Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
  1. Sitting for hours at a time.
  2. Some lifting of donated goods, up to 50 pounds at a time.
 
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
  1. Have excellent people skills.
  2. Ability to operate with minimal supervision.
  3. Ability to keep accurate records and organized documents.
  4. Be familiar with and use social media.
  5. Be creative in diagnosing and solving problems with schedules and volunteer assignments.  
  6. Personal qualities of openness and respect for co-workers and clients, compassion and graciousness in helping clients.
  7. Must possess the personal qualities of integrity, compassion and empathy which encourages the trust and confidence of others.
  8. Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  9. Ability to develop, coordinate, and maintain program accountability.
  10. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
 
Education, training and or experience:  
  1. Two years post High School education experience.
  2. Two years of experience in working with Volunteers or in volunteering.
  3. Basic computer skills, Excel, Word, Outlook, power point.
 
Background Screen/BCI requirement
  1. Must pass BCI/FBI background check.
 
Licenses, certifications and credentials
  1. Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
 
Position status and expected schedule  
  1. Full-time, 40 hours per week position. An occasional evening or weekend is possible.
