Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 242 W Paramount Ave SLC UT 84115
Status: Non-exempt, Full-time, with benefits
Salary: $13-14/hr DOE

Job Description:
Assist in the preparation, serving, and supervision of morning, noon, and evening meals at Gail Miller Resource Center.
Responsibilities include:
  1. Assist fellow kitchen staff in preparing and planning of morning meals.
  2. Delegate tasks to volunteers and others to ensure food is ready by each meal time.
  3. Assist Kitchen Manager and staff in keeping food commodities on a first in and first out system to rotate product.
  4. Report any kitchen problems to the Kitchen Manager.
  5. Help maintain the cleanliness of the general kitchen area and equipment.
  6. Clean up the serving area and dish room.
  7. Close and secure dining room.
  8. Ensure that only designated staff is allowed in kitchen during meal preparation.
  9. Ensure all Health Department regulations are observed by staff and volunteers.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
  1. Ability to work outside and inside, in cold and hot conditions.
  2. Uses caution when working near icy and slippery conditions.
  3. Use ear protection and other necessary personal protection equipment while operating equipment.
  4. Use caution while working in kitchen near hot equipment and sharp objects.
Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
  1. Ability to continuously stand, sit or walk.
  2. Ability to bend, squat, and lift frequently.
  3. Ability to safely lift and move objects up to 100 lbs.
  4. Use PPE as needed.
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
  1. Experience in food preparation of large quantities of food.
  2. Experience in nutritional meal planning.
  3. Creativity and flexibility in food preparation.
  4. Ability to approach problem situations with tact and sensitivity.
Education, training and or experience:  
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Maintain a current food handler’s permit.
  3. ServeSafe certification may be required.
Background Screen/BCI requirement
  1. Must be able to pass a national FBI/BCI background check.
Licenses, certifications and credentials
  1. ServeSafe certification.
  2. Food Handlers Permit.
  3. Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
  4. Utah DOT Medical Card.
Position status and expected schedule  
  1. Full time, 40 hours/week
  2. Schedule 1: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:00pm
Schedule 2: Friday-Sunday 6:00am – 4:00pm; Monday 9:00am-7:00pm
Schedule 3: Sunday 9:00am-7:00pm; Monday-Wednesday 10:00am-8:00pm
Schedule 4: Thursday-Sunday 10:00am-8:00pm
