Location: Catholic Community Services of Utah, 242 W Paramount Ave Salt Lake City, UT 84115
Status: Non-exempt, Full-time, with benefits
Salary: $16-17/hr DOE

Job Description:
The Innovation and Improvement Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, organization, and support for frontline staff.  The Innovation and Improvement Specialist will determine best practices to improve training and resources for staff members, enabling them to create a safe, supportive environment for the vulnerable populations they serve.
 
Responsibilities include:
  1. Keep current with developments in security and training.  Contribute to planning, creation, and review of agency safety and security protocols that incorporate principles of Trauma Informed Care.
  2. Plan and present ongoing training on safety and security protocol to all shelter staff, including new hires, and refresher material for existing staff.
  3. Conduct random quality checks for check-in consistency.  Provide follow-up employee coaching or training if necessary. 
  4. Oversee the staffing strategy for staff on all shifts, incorporating flexibility into the traditional work schedule while allowing Paramount to recruit and retain skilled individuals.
  5. Train staff to use existing software available for shift scheduling and schedule changes, planned or unplanned.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
 
Work Environment – inside/outside, office, warehouse, noise, temperature, etc.
  1. Clean bathrooms when needed.
  2. Clean up of human biohazard materials, (vomit, excrement, soiled clothing and blankets).
  3. Properly dispose of drug paraphernalia when found.
 
 
Physical Demands including bending, sitting, lifting and driving
  1. Ability to move around a large room and yard frequently each hour.
  2. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
  3. Ability to stand and/or walk for an hour or more at a time.
 
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
  1. Familiarity with Trauma Informed Care and Housing First Philosophies and the willingness to incorporate them into your daily work.
  2. Outstanding interpersonal and active listening skills, including the ability to handle difficult situations.
  3. Ability to think critically, problem solve, and handle delicate situations with emotional intelligence.
  4. Demonstrate openness and respect for diversity, including the ability to be culturally responsive to clients from different racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  5. Exceptional ability to set and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
 
Education, training and or experience:  
  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. At least one year of direct supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Previous experience working with diverse populations required.
 
Background Screen/BCI requirement
  1. Must pass BCI/FBI background check.
 
Licenses, certifications and credentials
  1. Current Utah driver’s license, proof of auto insurance with minimum policy liability limits of $50,000 per person and $100,000 per occurrence, 21 years of age or older, a clean driving record, and ability to meet CCS vehicle safety requirements.
 
Position status and expected schedule  
  1. 40 hours per week Monday through Friday, flexibility needed for possible weekends and evening shifts.
