POSITION SUMMARY
The graphic designer will have excellent technical computer skills and use their creativity to combine graphics, typography, photos, charts, infographics, and other visual graphic elements for production and distribution of publication-ready marketing materials and/or presentations. Must have knowledge of printing, pre-press, web,
and social media processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- This position requires creative solutions, production, critical thinking, and excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills. Must also have skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint, and be able to multitask with many projects and multiple deadlines.
- Create and utilize existing designs to produce marketing pieces including social media, web graphics, email invitations, posters, banners, fliers, handouts, brochures, etc.
- Update current branded marketing materials such as templates, booklets, brochures, maps, posters, postcards, presentations, and proposals.
- Create graphics and collaborate with content writers to refine copy layouts, convert photographs and drawings into digital images, use company templates to set up page layouts, and generate designs/presentations.
- Prepare presentation slides using custom design and internal templates.
- Actively participates in team meetings to discuss project and task scopes of work.
- Deliver finished work upon specified deadlines, within time allocations, and exceed expectations.
- Effectively communicate design intent and specifications (dimensions, materials, production methods).
- Adhere to departmental workload and schedule, filling time with productivity, and working the hours required to complete the project.
- Manage and prioritize work effectively and proactively discuss conflicts with workloads.
- Photograph at events when needed, process photography, and use photos in existing materials.
- Receive print materials and manage inventory.
- Organize design file management and maintain resource files.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
- Proven graphic design skills with great attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
- Intermediate knowledge, skills, and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Professional) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Intermediate experience creating images and graphics for print, web, and social media.
- Excellent ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, communicate well with others, and clarify details to ensure understanding of tasks.
- Strong organization, time management, follow through, and attention to detail.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience and/or training in graphic and web design, layout, prepress, marketing, presentation, and production.
- Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge of Mac, SharePoint, Canva, and Asana a plus.
- A portfolio of work experience is required either online or in person.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The position is a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. $50,000-56,000. Salary commensurate with experience. UWSL/UP provides a wide range of benefits, including:
